A TALL JAPANESE SETO WARE VASE
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH OR 20TH CENTURY
The white baluster body delicately painted with two carp swimming in a stream, one side with many bubbles rendered in raised white enamel, a band of chidori (plovers) flying above waves rendered in gilt above the foot, with reticulated handles, a signature to the side, possibly for Koyama Ryuhozan, and inscribed underneath Dai Nihon Seto Kato Shigeju zo, 34cm.
