A JAPANESE KUTANI DISH AND A SHALLOW BOWL
EDO PERIOD, 18TH AND 19TH CENTURY
Both decorated with carp, the plate with thick blue, yellow, purple and green enamels and inscribed Kutani underneath; the bowl painted in polychrome enamels and gilt with two fish amongst waves and flowers, the rim with a band of shippo tsunagi cash designs in underglaze blue, the underside with roundels containing bats and butterflies and with three beribboned kites, 24.8cm and 15.6cm respectively.
