A LARGE JAPANESE IMARI FIGURE OF A BIJIN
EDO PERIOD, 18TH CENTURY
The elegant figure smiles gently whilst holding the hem of her robes, her voluminous garments richly decorated in underglaze blue, gilt, red, green, purple and yellow enamels, painted with large open fans, trees, leaves and flowerheads, the paulownia leaves and tendrils reminiscent of the Imperial kiri mon, 58cm.
Provenance: purchased in the early 1970s from the collection of Colonel Porter of Portnoo (Ireland), by repute.
