A JAPANESE IMARI DISH
EDO PERIOD, LATE 17TH/EARLY 18TH CENTURY
Typically decorated in underglaze blue, gilt and red enamels, painted to the well with a large hanging basket containing peonies and other foliage, the cavetto and rim with alternating panels of stylised flowerheads and a scene depicting a boat by a building and with branches of pine above, the underside painted with further branches following the rim, 37.7cm.
