A JAPANESE ARITA BLUE AND WHITE FOLIATE DISH
EDO PERIOD, 17TH CENTURY
Decorated in underglaze blue with a large fan-shaped panel enclosing a mountainous river landscape, with a small pavilion by rocky outcrops on an island and two sail boats visible in the distance, on a ground of large peony flowers and leafy tendrils; the underside painted with beribboned auspicious objects and a central Chinese mark reading Da Ming Chenghua nian zhi, 21.8cm.
