EDO PERIOD, C.1850
The first by Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865) and entitled The Revenge of the Soga Brothers; the second by Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861) and depicting the Night Attack at the Obaka Inn; the third by Utagawa Yoshitora (1836-80) with armour-clad horse riders preparing to go into battle, the silhouettes of their armies visible in the distance, all oban tate-e, all approx. 36cm x 74.5cm.
