A JAPANESE PARCEL-GILT BRONZE PANEL
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH OR 20TH CENTURY
Depicting a large bird of prey precariously perched on a rock, with large crashing waves and a small fish emerging from the water beside it, the head of the majestic bird and other elements rendered in high relief, an oval cartouche to the lower left corner inscribed Hidekazu/Shuichi with kao, in a wooden frame carved as two dragons on either side of the hoju-no-tama sacred jewel, 32.5cm x 44.5cm overall.
