†λ A GOOD JAPANESE IVORY CARVING, OKIMONO
MEIJI 1868-1912
Depicting an elderly woman with a small boy by her side, the woman warming up a kettle on a small fire, the child leaning towards her with a small chestnut in his hand, a large woven basket of persimmons before them, the details naturalistically carved, with a two character signature for Sosai on a red lacquer tablet and another seal mark underneath, possibly for Toshi, 13.3cm.
