Depicting two beauties standing at a temple gate and observing two doves before them, one holding a small paper umbrella to protect them from the sun, the walls of the gate behind them richly decorated with wood carvings, signed 'Ando C., Tokio Japan, 1888' and framed, 63cm x 49.5cm.

Provenance: a Scottish private collection, acquired in the early 20th c.
