Alongside this impressive pair of Imari vases from Exbury House (lot 218), the sale features a selection of good Satsuma wares (including pieces by Kinkozan, Nakamura Baikei and Ryozan), a magnificent pair of inlaid bronze vases by Inoue of Kyoto (lot 313) and other high-quality Komai-style metalworks. The works on paper include a 25 metre-long handscroll painting depicting the Imperial excursion of 1626 (lot 288) and an early depiction of the Pure Land of Amida Buddha (lot 288A). Another highlight of this sale is the large number of netsuke, most coming from the collection of a lady of title and thence by descent.
