A JAPANESE GOLD LACQUER FUBAKO (LETTER BOX AND COVER)
EDO PERIOD, 18TH CENTURY
Of rounded rectangular form, the lid and sides decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e and kirikane on a nashiji ground, embellished with a crane in flight over a pine tree and bamboo, a small minogame below, two russet silk cords attached to metal rings on the sides, the paulownia kiri mon decorating the mounts, 7.5cm x 7.7cm x 24.8cm; together with a tomobako wood box.
