A JAPANESE IMARI MOULDED BOWL & COVER
EDO PERIOD, 18TH CENTURY
The deep U-shaped body raised on a short straight foot, typically decorated in underglaze blue, gilt, and red enamels; the inside with a chrysanthemum flowerhead to the centre and three large sprays of chrysanthemum, the decoration repeated on the inside of the cover; the exteriors with many shishi prancing amongst flowering branches of chrysanthemum, some of the blooms moulded in low relief; 17cm max.
