A JAPANESE IVORY AND SHIBAYAMA-STYLE TABLE SCREEN, TSUITATE
MEIJI 1868-1912
The rectangular panel with mother of pearl, tortoiseshell, horn and stained ivory inlays, decorated to one side with two cockerels by a stream under a peony tree, to the other with a bird and butterflies flying over bellflowers and morning glories, each side with a border of flowers carved in sunk relief, shishiaibori, all raised on two feet decorated with bats flying over roof tiles, unsigned, 24.6cm x 20.5cm.
