MEIJI 1868-1912
All three diptychs and depicting birds, one a magpie, wakumi, perched on a flowering branch of prunus, another two sparrows in flight above Japanese andromeda flowers, the third with an egret, toki, taking flight from a lotus pond, all framed, glazed, and inscribed, by Maekawa Bunrei (1837-1917), 31cm x 46cm. Provenance: a Spanish private collection, Madrid, purchased from Milne Henderson London, 21st June 1996. A copy of the original invoice is available.
