A JAPANESE BUDDHIST SCROLL PAINTING
EDO/MEIJI PERIOD
Depicting the thousand-armed Senju Kannon with two attendants, the deity seated on an elaborate throne with a shishi at the centre and holding her many attributes, with a white mandorla behind her and an ornate palanquin made of lotus flowers above, 36cm x 20.5cm.
Provenance: from the collection of Una Money-Shewan (d.1976), acquired in China between 1896 and 1910.
