A JAPANESE WOOD CABINET, TANSU
EDO/MEIJI PERIOD
Of keyaki (zelkova serrata) wood, the top half with a large horizontal drawer, fitted with a lock shaped as a chrysanthemum flowerhead, the lower half with four smaller drawers, together with a removable wood and metal lock that can be fitted to the front, with the key to the two locks, 52.5cm x 66.5cm x 40.5cm.
Provenance: a Spanish private collection, Madrid, purchased from the Kyoto Gallery, Brussels, on 1st February 2001. A copy of the original invoice is available.
