A LARGE JAPANESE VASE BY TAIZO KURODA (1946-)

HEISEI 1989-PRESENT

The body formed of two bowls joined at the waist and with a symmetrical short foot and rim, the white porcelain surface unglazed and with subtle horizontal striations, impressed above the foot with the Kuroda seal, in a fitted and signed tomobako wood box, 25.4cm. (2)

Provenance: a Spanish private collection, Madrid, purchased from Zetterquist Galleries, New York, on 29th March 2000. A copy of the original invoice is available.

Taizo Kuroda is a contemporary Japanese ceramicist who takes his inspiration from the pure white porcelain of Choson Dynasty Korea. His work is exhibited all over the world and particularly in Japan, New York, Paris, Basel and Seoul.
