A JAPANESE IMARI FIVE-PIECE GARNITURE
EDO PERIOD, 18TH CENTURY
Comprising: three baluster jars and covers and two beaker vases, all typically decorated in underglaze blue, gilt, red, green and purple enamels, painted with cranes in flight amongst prunus and pines,with crenellated borders enclosing scrolling tendrils, flowerheads and petals, the necks of the baluster vases with rhomboid panels of beribboned cash, the covers with similar decoration and topped with the figure of a bijin, 57cm max.
