A PAIR OF JAPANESE KAKIEMON-STYLE ARITA DISHES

MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY

The foliate bodies decorated in underglaze blue and red, cyan, black and yellow enamels, the wells with a roundel enclosing a flowering chrysanthemum in a jardinière, with small birds in flight above, the cavetto and rim with further flowers issuing from rockwork, with spiral-shaped clouds and three prancing rabbits above, the underside with three red suns and further blossoms, 21.8cm.
