A MASSIVE JAPANESE IMARI CHARGER
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
Decorated in underglaze blue, iron-red and gilt with two large shaped panels, one containing two deer in an autumnal landscape under maple leaves, the other with boys playing mahjong, the sides with peacocks amongst flowering branches and peonies, the reverse with flowerheads, butterflies and karakusa scrolls, the base marked fuki choshun (wealth and everlasting spring), together with a hardwood stand, 56.8cm.
