Catalogue Note
Edouard-Francois and Camille Lerolle became Lerolle Freres when they purchased their father's bronze foundry in 1849. At the 1849 Exhibition of Agricultural and Industrial Products they won a silver medal. They exhibited at many of the famous exhibitions in the second half of the 19th century and their work is characterised by a strong sculptural quality.
