with a dentil cornice, above a pair of fielded panelled doors, enclosing a green and gilt painted apse interior, fitted with three shaped shelves and a hinged serving flap, flanked by stop fluted pilasters, above a further pair of doors, enclosing a painted interior with a drawer

Catalogue Note
According to Susan Stuart in her book 'Gillows of Lancaster and London 1730-1840' this type of cupboard equipped with a folding serving shelf was known as a buffet cupboard and they were some of the most popular pieces of furniture made by Gillows.
