Catalogue Note

Jane Austen's cousin, the Reverend Thomas Leigh, held the living of St Mary Magdalene Church, Adlestrop, for 51 years from 1762. Jane is know to have visited Thomas on a number of occasions and is very likely to have seen or used this bowl when she attended services led by Thomas at St Mary's.
