the brass eight day movement with platform lever escapement, with repeat and alarm mechanisms and striking on a bell, stamped '740' to the back plate, the enamelled dial with black Roman hours above a subsidiary alarm dial, inscribed 'Aubert & Klaftenberger, Geneve', the gorge case with bevelled glass panels and hinged handle, with a burgundy leather bound travelling case, with keys (2)

From the collection of Charles William Martin, 1850-96, of Quorn Place, Leicestershire. In 1886, Martin founded the Quorn Ranch Company in Alberta, Canada, one of the most famous British North American ranches, importing British horses and Angus cattle to the area.
