the circular plate in an ebonised slip and a beaded gilt metal outer border, the snake and laurel wreath surmount with a flame finial, above a pair of candle branches with associated glass nozzles and drip-pans, with a foliate and pineapple pendant base, the nozzles stamped '14' and '16'

Catalogue Note
Deepdene was the country home of Thomas Hope. On his death in 1831, the house passed to his son Henry Thomas Hope and remained in the family until Lord Francis Hope-Pelham-Clinton was declared bankrupt. The majority of the collection was sold in 1917.
