The January auction features over 600 lots of English and Continental furniture, sculpture, carpets, lighting, treen, tea caddies and collectable items. The sale begins with a good selection of Oak, Country and Folk Art, the highlight is lot 31 a rare George II Channel Islands painted pine chest on stand. 18th century English furniture is well represented with two collections from the estates of the late Peter Meyer and Dr. Gordon Pack. The Meyer collection includes lot 118 a George II mahogany metamorphic library stool, a similar example was in the Rockefeller Collection sold by Christie’s in 2018. The highlight of the Pack collection is lot 119, a George II mahogany library armchair in the manner of Paul Saunders. The sale also features a fine George III satinwood cellaret in the manner of Mayhew & Ince, three Italian velvet curtains formerly in the Rothschild collection at Mentmore Towers, a pair of Baroque giltwood mirrors in the manner of Friedrich Unteutsch, an Italian desk inlaid with ivory attributed to Pietro Piffetti, a rare occasional table made of parrot coal and a fine Tabriz pictorial carpet.
