Day 2 of our April auction commences with selected contents of Winchfield House, Hampshire. Winchfield House exudes Georgian elegance and was originally built c.1767 by Lord George Beauclerk, 6th son of the first Duke of St. Albans and was the Beauclerk family seat until the 1850s when it was sold to Spencer Charrington. The fifty-one lots in the sale are from the Charrington Family Collection and include a wonderful George II giltwood console table, an impressive large scale giltwood wall mirror and a set of ten George III mahogany dining chairs in the French manner. Other highlights in the Fine Furniture section include a rare William and Mary black lacquer and giltwood cabinet on stand in the manner of Thomas Pelletier. This stunning cabinet retains its original cresting which is a rare survivor. We are fortunate to have another rare japanned cabinet in the sale, this example is a secretaire cabinet chest and is attributed to John Belchier. Day 2 will feature the second part of the Hans Joachim Homm collection, leading the collection is fine Haji Jalili silk prayer rug.
