λ  A Swiss tortoiseshell musical singing bird box, retailed by 'FINNIGANS, NEW BOND ST. W.' the top with an engraved gilt brass oval hinged lid, revealing a pierced panel and a brightly coloured bird, activated by a lever on the front of the box, inscribed 'TO SARAH FROM Mary + Douglas', the back with a hinged compartment possibly for snuff, with a bird shape key, late 19th / early 20th century, 10cm wide.
