The British Motor Boat Club was officially founded in May 1905. It was created by a group of enthusiastic gentlemen who were members of the New Automobile Club, later to become the Royal Automobile Club in Pall Mall, London. They included Lionel de Rothschild, Bernard Redwood, Basil Joy and John Scott-Montagu.
