the brass eight day movement with an anchor escapement striking on a bell, the 12in brass arched dial with a silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerlas, with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, signed 'Caleb Evans, Bristol', the hood with a swan neck pediment with applied giltwood pendants above a diaper ground, with two weights, pendulum, case key and winder

Catalogue Note

See A. J. Moore, The Clockmakers of Bristol 1650-1900, p.165, which states 'Evans Caleb Bristol 1766 1775 45 Stokes Croft. Watchmaker and Jeweller'. His son Caleb also worked at the same address to c.1790.
