An Indian hardwood dowry chest or damchiya
An Indian hardwood dowry chest or damchiya, with iron and brass mounts and traces of original polychromy, the front corners carved with horse's head finials, above a panelled front decorated with scrolling leaves and flowers, with a hinged door and a secret sliding panel, enclosing two shelves, the back with an inscription, Gujarat, probably 18th century, 90.4cm high, 148cm wide, 74.3cm deep.
