A MAHOGANY BARREL ORGAN LONGCASE CLOCK
C.1780-1800
the Dutch eight day movement with wooden organ pipes, stops and levers with leather bellows, the painted wooden dial with black Roman numerals slightly raised above the frame painted and gilded with an early 18th century Royal Crest supported by cherubs and other figures beneath a stage of five carved and painted wooden automaton figures in a chinoiserie setting, in a mahogany case in the manner of Gillows, the arched hood with a broken swan neck pediment above an aperture flanked by gilded organ pipe pilasters and a pair of panelled side doors, the trunk with a triple ogee arched door flanked by cluster columns on a plinth base with canted corners
236cm high, 69.5cm wide, 43.4cm deep
The clock had extensive work carried out on it in 1998 including to the drive mechanism, musical mechanism and automata. Once this work was completed, an inventory of work that still needed to be carried out was produced by the workshop. Details of this work can be provided on request.
