In the manner of Simone Bianco (Italian active 1512-1553). A Venetian carved marble relief portrait bust of a Greek lady, probably 16th century, 23.5 x 15cm, mounted on a later marble plaque, 32 x 21.5cm.

Simone Bianco (active 1512-1553) was a follower of Tullio and Antonio Lombardo and was a practitioner of all'antica portraiture. This fashion for portraiture emulating the Greeks and Romans flourished in the Veneto in the first half of the 16th century.
