A George III needlework sampler by Paulina Brigg, worked with alphabets, numbers and two poems, one by James Thomson, 'FATHER of light and life, thou GOOD SUPREME...', the other by Nicholas Rowe, 'The bliss of Friendship Vice can never know', signed 'Paulina BRIGG. Guard House. June the 9th 1802', 31.8 x 27.7cm, in a glazed giltwood frame.

Provenance: 'A Lifetime of Collecting'-The property of a gentleman.

Guard House is in New Skipton, North Yorkshire. James Thomson (1700-1748) was a Scottish poet and playwright. His most famous works are The Castle of Indolence and The Seasons.
