CATALOGUE NOTE
The 'garcon a l'oiseau' is based on a terracotta prototype by Charles-Antoine Bridan from 1784 on display at the Museum of Fine Arts of Chartres, which in turn is a copy of an ancient Roman sculpture at Villa Borghese, Italy. It forms a pair with 'la fillette au nid vide'.
