A Plymouth figure group c.1770
A Plymouth figure group c.1770, modelled with two putti and a goat before flowering bocage, entwined with further flowers, raised on a tall scrolled base with gilt detailing, restoration to the bocage, candle sconce lacking, 19cm.
The original source for the model is a bronze group by Jacques Sarazzin of c.1640 in the Louvre. The same group was produced at both Longton Hall and Vauxhall and it is possible that the Plymouth example copied these rather than the original bronze.
