A rare New Hall comport or dessert basket, c.1782-87, the lobed quatrefoil form painted with insects around fruit sprigs including redcurrant, plum and gooseberry, within a stylised husk border, the pierced rim with puce ribbon detailing, the twig handles issuing from gilded leaves, a short riveted crack, 25.2cm across.
