A Mexborough (Yorkshire) or Crown mark Toby jug early 19th century, resting a miniature Sunderland lustre jug on his left knee and holding a tall cup edged with pink lustre, the end of his long-stemmed clay pipe likewise decorated, sponged around the base and inside his hat in a typical palette of ochre, blue and black, very faint impressed crown mark, minor faults, 25.5cm.
