A good pair of Coalport ice pails with liners and covers c.1800-05, decorated in London, each with a continuous band of Classical warriors in sepia monochrome with fine gilt detailing, the covers with mythical beasts and Classical motifs, 23.5cm. (6)
Early wares by John Rose at Coalport were often sent as blanks to London ateliers, especially the Baxter workshop.
