Three Chinese famille rose plates, painted with figures in various pursuits, the borders with bats, sea creatures and insects and birds amidst lotus, the backs brightly enamelled with butterflies on a green ground, each with an iron red Daoguang seal mark and of the period 1821-1850, one with a large rim chip, 19cm. (3)
Provenance: Acquired by John Reeves after his arrival in Canton in 1812, and thence by descent.
