A Chinese cizhou vase, the upper section decorated in brown on a cream ground with flowers and leaves in two opposing panels, the neck with four loop handles, the lower body covered entirely with a treacly brown glaze, Song dynasty or later, 32cm. Cf. Y. Mino, Freedom of Clay and Brush through seven Centuries through Northern China: Tz'u-chou Type Wares, 960-1600 AD, p.188 for similar examples.
