Carved in cinnabar lacquer with scholars drinking tea and playing music in a fenced garden, the setting rich with many shrubs and trees including pine and plantain, with mountains and swirling clouds visible in the distance, all set against black geometric designs, the cavetto with cartouches enclosing floral sprays amidst rockwork, all raised on four short feet, 40.3cm.
