Standing four square with its head turned slightly to sinister, he carries a vase on his back, all decorated with green, amber and straw coloured glazes, a paper label for Brodie & Enid Lodge no.F21, 39cm.
Provenance: from the collection of Brodie & Enid Lodge, Flore House, Northamptonshire. The Brodie Lodge archive lists no.F21 as purchased from Sparks on the 12th October 1949 for 72. For details of this famous collection, cf. R Davids and D Jellinek Provenance p.298.
