A CHINESE OR KOREAN LACQUER LOBED STEM CUP
17TH CENTURY
The lobed body incised with a scaly dragon amongst clouds and a floral band to the underside, painted with black, red and brown lacquer, all raised on a flared foot with a band of lappets around the footrim, paper labels for Spink & Son and Dr & Mrs P H Plesch to the base, 18cm.
Provenance: from the collection of Professor Peter H Plesch and Mrs Traudi Plesch OBE and thence by descent, collection no.Lt17A, purchased from Spink & Son Ltd on 29th September 1978 for £375.
