λ A Japanese gold lacquer four case inro early 19th century, decorated with a red oni on the nashiji ground, the reverse with a woman holding a fan, signed Jokasai, together with a bead ojime and ivory manju netsuke, 7.8cm.

Provenance: from the collection of Luís Esteves Fernandes (1897-1988). Purchased from Roland Koscherak Far Eastern Art, Flushing, New York, 16th March 1953 for $90, the original invoice is available.
