A massive pair of Chinese Canton famille rose vases 19th century, each elaborately enamelled with large panels containing officials and attendants seated at tables, and with smaller panels depicting scenes of interiors, further figures and birds, the borders with bats, fabulous animals and auspicious objects, all on a ground of foliage, flowers, fruits and insects, moulded with large gilt dragons and playing Buddhist lion dogs to the necks, with a monogram to each side of the shoulder which reads 'M H W', 78cm.
