A large Chinese twelve panel double-sided red lacquer screen 19th century, carved and decorated with a wide central panel containing birds amidst peony, lotus and other flowers on a complex T-diaper ground and bordered by panels containing vases, flowers and other auspicious things, the reverse with figures in an extensive mountainous pagoda landscape, each panel 280cm high x 50cm wide, approximately 600cm wide overall.

Provenance: Field Marshal Earl Kitchener of Khartoum (1850-1916), and thence by descent.
