A SMALL GROUP OF CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE CANTON ENAMEL ITEMS

18TH AND 19TH CENTURY

Comprising: a pair of teapots and covers decorated with insects amongst blossoming flowers, a circular floral-decorated dish with five stylised dragons on a yellow ground to the base, a rectangular dish with chamfered corners, and a quatrelobed tray painted with European figures in a garden, the reverse with a landscape scene and an old paper label, 31cm max. (7)

Provenance: from an English private collection, probably acquired in the 19th or early 20th century, and thence by descent.

Cf. Compendium of Collections in the Palace Museum, Enamels, 5, Painted Enamels in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), pp.366-367, no.295 for a similarly decorated yellow circular dish also with five blue dragons to the base.
