A Chinese blue and white cylindrical jar Wanli 1573-1619, of kraak type, painted with two cranes flying amidst pine, bamboo, chrysanthemum and insects, the base with a star crack, 21cm. Provenance: a private American collection, purchased from John Berwald, 23rd June 1995. For a similar jar cf. R Krahl, Chinese Ceramics in Topkapi Saray Museum, Istanbul, Vol. II, Nos. 1516-17.
