*A RARE DATED CHINESE SIX COLOUR BEIJING GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE

19TH CENTURY

Carved in shallow relief in red, green, blue, yellow, black and pink with a warrior holding a flag, standing beside his horse and looking up to a floating deity, the reverse with a figure praying beside an incense burner beneath plantain and the crescent moon, the shoulders each with an inscription, one which reads shi jia shen ji chun (in the third month of Jia Shen year, probably for 1824), the other reading zhen shang zhai fang gu (an imitation of the archaic style by Zhenshang Hall), all reserved on a milk-white ground, 8cm.

Provenance: formerly in an American private collection, c.1960.
